Subject: Section 89 Picnic
I guess a bunch of people missed the original of this so here it goes
again! :>
The Section Picnic is this Saturday (July 13) at Taughannock Falls State
Park outside Ithaca,NY starting at 12pm. All we ask is that you try to be
on time. If you would like to make a small donation to offset costs
(like a dollar or two) please do so, but it is NOT mandatory.
Directions are found at the end of this message or you can get visuals at
http://apo89.cgicafe.com/
IMPORTANT!!! Weather updates will be available at the website also.
For those who can't get to the site, I will leave a status
on my answering machine at 716-883-1907. Call if you
need more specific directions also.
Also, PLEASE try and call or write to say if you or anytone you
know is coming so we can plan food appropriately.
OK.... here goes on the directions:
**From Buffalo: Take the I90 until Exit #42 (SR14 South). Take the 14
South until you hit the 96 (about 1 mi). Take the 96 South until you
hit the 336 (about 17 miles) and go east on the 336 until you hit the
89. Take the 89 south and go for about 30 miles. You will run right
into the park. The entrance you want will be on your left (marina and
boat launch). If you hit gorge road then you have gone too far. We
should all be in the parking lot.
**From Syracuse: Take I81 South to Route 13W(11). Take the 13 for about
20 miles into Ithaca. Route 13 will turn into what is called N. Meadow
Street. Go about 5 blocks to W. State Street and take a right. This should
turn into Route 96. Take this over the bridge. Right after the bridge
the road will "Y" off into several directions. You want Route 89 or Park
Road. Go North about 10 miles right into the park. You want the office
on the right immediately after Gorge Road. We will be around the parking lot.
**From Alfred: Follow Route 17 until just about before Elmira and get
off on Route 13E. Take the 13 to 13A (13 will tak4e you into Ithaca, but I
think that will be too confusing). 13A will take you to the same "Y" in
Syracuse's directions. Make sure you take a left onto the 96 and then
immediately "y" off to the 89. Then follow Syracuse's directions.
**From Fredonia: Get to Buffalo and follow their directions.
**From St. Bon.: Take the 17 and follow Alfred's directions.
**From Rochester: You actually have two choices. Take the 490 South to
the Thruway and take the Thruway following Buffalo's directions.
**From Geneseo: You also have two choices. You can either take the 390
to the I90 and go over following Buffalo's directions or you can take
the 390 to the 17 following Alfred's directions. Following Buffalo's
directions is probably faster.
**From Oswego: Ok... You can either make your way to Syracuse and follow
their directions (recommended)or you can take 104 to Route 34 all the way to
Ithaca (this is the scenic slow route).
