Since no one else from the convention committee has commented, I may as well.
All the 24(?) chapters in Reg X, the host region, are in charge of at least one
committee. Eta Psi (CSU, Chico) is coordinating the security. While there
is a lot to do, by no means is one, or even two chapters hosting this
convention. Committee chairs are meeting every other month with the convention
chair, and will meet monthly in a couple months. I haven't been directly
involved with the meetings since Regionals (somebody else is chairing it) but
my early involvement showed me a lot about how it works. Since there is
only one aspect that each chapter is responsible for, it's very manageable
for chapters to do their part. I was VERY against our chapter handling this
particular committee becuase of the lack of commitment that I had been seeing
from the Brothers, but so far, things appear to be going well. Granted, the
chapters closest to the convention site will be doing the stuff that has to
be done there, but most of the committees can be done from a distance. Also,
the national office is very involved as well. So, no chapter should be worried
about a convention happening close by because the work done by even the most
involved chapter would be less than hosting a sectional conference.
