For our commemoration of National Service Day, Phi has been hoping to host
a Natural Disaster Pre./Safety fair open to the community. Unfortunately,
we have had agreat deal of trouble finding a location to hold this event,
and this has set the entire planning process back.

I have just found out that a large open area in Carousel Mall (a huge mall
that is somewhat famous in Central New York) is open on November 9, one
week after the official National Service Day. Although I dislike not doing
the event on November 2nd, I am starting to fear for the viability of the
event if we do not settle on a location now.

There are a few additional complications; they need proof of insurance,
which is something I have to look into, and they will charge $500, which
hopefully we can get covered by a corporate sponsor of some kind, since we
probably can not afford it. They also said there might be security costs;
her ears perked up when I said fraternity, because apparently they just got
burned by one of the social organizations.

The advantages of this location, however, are enormous. The mall gets at
least 60,000 visitors on a given Saturday, not to mention those attracted
by our publicity campaign. They are also willing to feature the event on
their own promotional material within the mall, which would mean more
publicity.. So it comes down to the root problem: they are only available
November 9, and not November 2.

I seem to remember that groups have done their events late before. Is this
true? Is this frowned upon?

Please let me know thoughts as soon as possible, since we need to settle
this in the next few days!
