Ritual secrets?

TO whoever can answer this:
It has always been my understanding that rituals and information
given in them (e.g., the greek words behind a-phi-o, the symbols of the
crest, the handshake, etc.) are secrets of the fraternity and not to
be openly discussed with those outside APO.
Can anyone confirm or deny this belief? Personally, I like the
idea of rituals and related info being secret. THe reason I'm asking is
that the other day one of our pledges was mentioning something about
pledge ceremony to someone (not in apo). I politely told her what I jsut
wrote above about it being secret. But since then I've been thinking,
and before I say something to our Pledge Trainer (who the pledge
indicated had said it was ok to tell anyone and everyone), I want to
double check.
I would ask Bill Kuhfal, who's one of our advisors, but it's a
bit late to call. Could one of many RD's or section chairs on the list
give me a definite answer on this? I would greatly appreciate it.
