To All Chapters:
(Along with those NSD stickers) about a week ago the application form for the
1997 APO Youth Program grant was sent out. This is a new grant program that
provides up to $500 to chapters for pro-active projects for pre-college youth.
In 1996 almost $3000 was allocated among eight chapters for projects that
encourage youth toward success against the odds.
All the details are there, but should you need further clarification don't
hesitate to ask :)
One change this year is the shifting of the time schedule. (This was brand new
last time and we put it out as soon as possible after the grant was confirmed.)
The applications are out in October, due no later than January 31, to increase
the opportunity to run the project in the spring. Incidentally, though I know
petitioning and interest groups do great service, the donor specified
chapter-based service, and so chapters-only it is. Sorry.
BTW the artwork on the application is the work of Marilyn Mims, Region II
Service Chair. Marilyn also creates the NSD logos. Thanks again, Mims!
