Dear APO-L,
Earlier Teri Sheets e-mailed me to say that she had found a cheaper fair to
Phoenix on Southwest Airlines than what the APO group discount had
with Southwest Airlines.
There is an explanation, according to my contact person with SWA in
Dallas.
Occaisionally, SWA will run specials in a particular market to drum up
passengers. That is what happened with Teri in California.
It is only occaisional, but you are free to get the best price possible on any
SWA flight. And if you still call the 800 number for the Southwest Group
Desk (1-800-433-5368, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.. Monday through Friday, Central time)
and tell them you have purchased a special fair and want to be in the APO
group discount program, APO still will receive credit for the flight -- even if
it is cheaper than the 10 percent group discount we are receiving. You still
must tell them that our group discount code is B9486. We also still must
call before Dec. 17.
In case you did not know, we have a 10-percent discount with Southwest
by calling that 800 number. Also, for every 40 tickets we sell to Phoenix, the
National Office receives one free ticket.
We also have a discount with Travel Discounters, which services all
major airlines except Southwest and Delta, by calling 1-800-355-1065. After
pressing the No. 1, our discount code with Travel Discounters, tell the
operator that you are with Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity,
and our code with them is "APO''.
