Alright, everyone yank out your pledge manuals from 6 years ago (man
am I dating myself) and take a look at page 37. Done it? Now does
anyone else understand why I'm so confused as to why we would even
have cause for a slogan when we already have a motto?
"Be a Leader, Be a Friend, Be of Service"
Sound familiar? Good. I guess the question I have is why did this
get left out of the most recent pledge manual (and possibly the other
two in between)? And is the proposer of the slogan aware that this
motto exists?
(All of the above questions were rhetorical, please don't answer them.)
And to add my 2cents worth to the national mandated service hours
requirements "bash", I've always believed you helped people because it
needed to be done, not because it would take a certain amount of
time. I seriously doubt that any such proposal will ever make it out
of committee, let alone pass on the actual floor.
