please excuse any spelling mistakes as even a spell checker does not catch
all of my spelling/grammer mistakes
I am glad to see that people do care about our ties with the
scouts. I was afraid that no one was interested in it as there were only
proposal dealing with the Scouting from our chapter here at drexel.
I personally like the decision to use the word derived (from its scout
oath and law) in the pre94 convention version. It is the best next to the
original purpose. I would much rather have the pre 94 legislation as the
legislation i proposed was supposed to be worded although it got butchered
in the interpretation department of my poor grammar/ spelling trying to
make sure it got in before the deadline.
Unfortunately the proposal with "derived" in it does not fall
within the scope of the legislation that is currently proposed or at least
i don't think it does. (if it does fall within scope i think it should be
pushed for that way as it means the same thing but sound better than that
circular reference).
As for the association with the girl scouts of America I think we
should be as at most coed chapters that I know of there are about as many
if not more women in the chapters. Why shouldn't we start an official
affiliation with the GSA maybe give it a position similar to the one the
BSA has. Unfortunetaly I don't know much about any discriminator problems
with the GSA as i was never affiliated with any scouting movement as a
child. Although i still believe that the scout oath and law is a good thing
to follow.
