So far in this discussion I have only seen the view point of the open
membership for new members. Yes there are still a few all male chapters out
there. I feel that it is unfair that a Co-ed service fraternity is turning
away women. Now GSS and OPhiA is present. They were formed out from APO.
But what happens with them, they are smaller and miss out on what we have
in the National level. Is there a way that they can gain recognition through
APO in a national level?
But it is time we ponder a second question. What happens to female brother
who transfer to a school that has an all-male chapter? In my 3 years in APO, I
have heard a lot of horror stories and have witnessed a lot of problems and
unbrotherly acts toward these women. This is where action needs to be taken.
If a female wants to remain involved in APO should should be able to do so
without having to feel put down.
