Brothers:
Recently I have been reading my email with curious outlook.
By curious I mean to suggest how ironic it seems everyone is using my
subject header for articles and other posts not really related to my
post. While I do not mind the use, I am beginning to wonder if people
assume it is easier to just reply rather than to come up with an
original subject or topic headline.
Regardless as such, I need to vent a new topic tonight.
Service to School.
How many of you have Administrative representatives as brothers of your
chapter. By Administrative, I refer to Deans, Presidents, Vice
Presidents, Resident Life Coordinators, Activity Directors, Career
Service Directors, etc. I have been around many chapters in my seven
years of membership. Ironically, I have found only a handful of
chapters that seek out their administrators to assist by becoming a
brother. It may sound hokey, but I have seen on campuses where APO has
sought administrators, greater pride in the administration role toward
APO on campus.
On my home chapter, Xi Alpha, the President, his wife, the
Director of Student Activities, the Associate Director of Resident Life,
the Director of the Student Union, and 6 faculty members are all
brothers, either by appointment or by their own alumni representation.
I feel this has encouraged a good relationship between APO and the
School. Thus, it has promoted a service to the school mentality.
What are your chapters doing in this regard? What can we do
to encourage more involvement with administrators and APO? I want to
hear your results.
