Take this scenario. You have someone who pledges who is rude,
offensive,and plain unbrotherly to the brothers/fellow pledges.
Furthermore, they repeatedly mention that they are pledging so
they can put APO on their resume and because they heard it's a good way
to meet males or females. Despite being rude and such to
everyone, this pledge meets all requirements. Based on your beliefs of
not voting on pledges, this person would become a brother since they met
all requirements. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want such a
person in my chapter. What voting allows is for chapters to vote
such people out who don't deserve to be part of APO. Whether this
happens or has happened at your chapter I don't know. However, it
does happen and it is a serious issue. If some chapters don't vote and
simply require pledges to meet a set of requirements, they are going to get
people such as the one described above and in some cases worst
who will meet the requirements, but are overly rude and offensive to
everyone. People like that are ones who begin to cause turmoil within the
chapter. Just my .02.
