Normally I don't talk here, but here is where I think you are
wrong. By proposing conflicting montions, you have confused and frustrated
the undergraduate students (at least in my area). The number one question
is "why?"... "it doesn't make sense".
Personally, I thought so too until now. I see now that this was
an underhanded and deceitful (however clever) way to get your topic to the
floor. Taking it one step further, if resoution number one doesn't pass,
you get another shot at it with resolution number two. Granted this can
work for both sides, but having multiple motions basically saying the same
thing wastes the time of the voting delagates... even more so the
committee members who have to hash this out. ONE well thought out, clear,
precise motion would have sufficed. Trust me, the topic is too hot to not
make it to the floor... even if the committee didn't bring it to the
floor, I'm sure at least one Brother would bring it up toward the end of
the session.
