I don't know if someone has answered this before, but...
An ex-girlfriend of mine pledged Omega Phi Alpha at Bowling Green
State University (Ohio), I can relate some information she gave me at
the time. Not having any current sources, I can't guarantee that some
of this information has not changed.
Omega Phi Alpha was formed in 1974 to be a sister sorority to Alpha
Phi Omega. Its growth was stymied in 1976 when Alpha Phi Omega
permitted females to join. As of 1993-4 there were six (6) chapters
of Omega Phi Alpha in the US. I know that at BGSU there is also a
co-ed chapter of Alpha Phi Omega (which is mostly female, but then so
is the campus [2:1 ratio I think]). That leaves five chapters that
could be located on other campuses throughout the US.
If I am incorrect in any of these statements let me know, but I
believe them to be true. This information is intended to INFORM our
readers, not to argue for or against any of the specific resolutions.
I would appreciate information to be posted (or e-mailed to me) about
Gamma Sigma Sigma as well.
