Neal Farmer has posted several messages about the sports/other stuff
auction in Phoenix at the National Convention. I hope everyone will
support this effort because it will raise a lot of money for a very good
cause.
I just want, in light of recent posts to this list, to clarify one point
regarding one item that is for sale at this event. The picture of
President Clinton and myself is, in itself, unremarkable. It's just a
picture. But, I believe it will be a long time -- no, I don't think it
will ever happen again -- that a National President of Alpha Phi Omega
and a President of the United States come from the same pledge class at
the same university. This was a truly remarkable coincidence, and so
this picture is worth more than it may seem at first glance. Let me also
say that, when it was taken in the White House, a Presidential aide asked
me about the APO pin I was wearing at the time. When I told her it was
APO, she said "Oh, that's the President's Fraternity." I don't know how
she knew that, and I don't care.
I hope everyone will get interested in what Neal is doing. There is some
neat stuff for sale, and I intend to participate. This picture, however,
is unique, and I want it to sell for a lot of money. The charities are
worth it and, as I said, I don't believe there will ever be another
picture like it.
