Hi all. I haven't posted in a while, so if you're interested, look for
my personal information at the end of this message.
For Nationals in December, 2000, remember that the "true" turn of the
year/decade/century/millenium will be 12/31/2000-1/1/2001. However, as
many people, newspapers, and public opinion polls have pointed out, most
people will be celebrating (goofily) on 12/31/1999-1/1/2000 (simply
because the year turns from 19xx to 20xx -- it's some psychological
thing, I suppose). Therefore, having a national convention in December
of 2000 shouldn't have to deal with too many holiday crowds (that will
occur the year before). As the Washington Post pointed out just a few
days ago, most luxury hotels, resorts, and cruise ships are already
booked solid for 12/31/1999...but they have openings still for
12/31/2000...<chuckle> go figure.
Personally, for the 2000 convention, I would prefer Washington, DC.
What better way to celebrate the new millenium and have a good
convention, than in our nation's capitol.
...and it happens to be _very_ close to where I live ;-) (and many other
brothers and chapters).
Besides, Section 84 (which contains DC and Maryland) has seven (7)
active chapters and 2 groups. That's plenty to support a convention.
L8r,
