One of the best functions of our advisers is simply to serve as a
university resource-- even as students we don't always know who to
talk to or where to go to get things done. In a more superficial
sense, they are also good at hosting parties and writing letters of
recommendation :-)
I think what all this underscores is that the
advisers shouldn't have to do anything really important, if the chapter is going well;
and if it starts to falter, they are sufficiently removed to
recognize it and sufficiently adept at correcting it.
On a side note, as communications chair I've been asked to "improve
alumni relations". Does anyone have any ideas on this rather vague
subject? I already sent out letters to all the chapter members from
the time our original chapter formed, and past that I'm lost.
Thanks,
Bev Moore
