Permit me, please, to shower a bit of long over-due praise.... ;-)

The best CPPC I ever saw was so well-planned that the sections were
divided
among several officers, pre-scripted and *rehearsed* in advance. Smooth!
Breaks were scheduled, and the co-organizers made sure they presenters
stuck
to the schedule. Some time was also spent in small-group sessions to add
some variety to the day, but also to allow members to contribute their
ideas
in ways which they found most comfortable. Off-topic/brainstorming ideas
were put aside for a scheduled review at the end of the day. It was very
well promoted with a positive, engaging invitation. Everyone who could
be
there was there, including 3 of 4 advisors, as well as myself as RD. (I
was
just there mostly to observe and answer questions.) The chapter followed
it
up with a written report to themselves, complete with action items and
identified individuals who would be responsible for follow-through.

That was at Eta Lambda, Univ. of Wisc - Eau Claire, about 4 years ago this
past weekend. The CPPC was held in a nice meeting room in their student
union.

It was an absolutely awesome all-day (Saturday) event, with excellent
fellowship
afterwards. This took place as the chapter was entering a period of great
growth and activity, after several years of being rather small. They
have
continued to prosper since then. I'm not sure if every CPPC they hold is
like this one, but this was one for the books! The key, I think, was
being
prepared going in to the CPPC, not just for the planning work, but for
the
follow-up work as well. The planning of and for the day made it possible
for participants to concentrate on the work at hand, and enjoy each
other's
company while they did it.
