I did a forward of the "service project"
message, and got this type of response.
I learned the following:
1. I was stupid. I owe you guys a public
apology. For crying out loud,yes,
I really should know better than that.
2. A good web sight for spam defenses
can be found at http://www.ultranet.com/~gmcgath/selfdefense.html.
This is good to read in addition to the CIAC suggestions
previously mentioned (i.e. search Yahoo for
"CIAC Internet....")
3. Never assume something is a "service project"
on the net because it is labeled as one. This
is especially true before forwarding it to people
like I did. Yes, even if a well meaning brother's
name is attached. Check out thje details first.
I did not. In fact, do that with prospective
dates and anything else along those
lines that pop up on the Net, too.
Never blindly assume.
4. I would pose the question to you:
Should service be done on the net?
What's a legitimate example?
Thanks, guys! -Joy

Joy,

Messages like that one pop up from time to time, and
I have yet to see one that is not a scam created by
someone who is just trying top mail-bomb someone else.

So, although its a wonderful thought, you probably
shouldn't send them any mail or pass this message around.

Jesse
