Come one, come all, to Carnegie Mellon's Spring Carnival!

April 10 - 13, 1997!

What is Carnival? Carnival is an annual event at CMU where fraternities,
sororities, and social groups compete in two events:
        1) Booth. Groups build midway-style booths, complete with games,
in the large parking lot of one of the CMU dorms. They compete for prizes
in booth design, game design, t-shirt design, and other categories that I
can't remember right now. :)
        2) Buggy. Imagine stuffing a small (i.e., around 5') student into
a vehicle slightly larger than they are, and racing them around a
twisty-turny section of suburban Pittsburgh! (Luckily, the streets in
question are blocked off!) A trophy (and bragging rights) goes to the
winner. Fraternities spend thousands of dollars on their buggies, in the
hope of displaying the 1st place trophy in their case for the next year.

Now, you ask, why would I, as an APO brother, be in the *least bit*
interested in some geek college's Greek Weekend? Well, APO, despite being
a service fraternity, is still involved in the Carnival festivities. For
booth, we don't compete; instead, we run the concessions stand for
Carnival, bringing students and Pittsburghers alike good homemade food at
low, low prices. For buggy, we run Buggy Board, which is a scoreboard so
people can see who's winning. A good time is had by all, and we want YOU
to be a part of it!

If you're interested in visiting the Pittsburgh area that weekend, feel
free to get in contact with me. (Yeah, I'm the sucker who volunteered for
contact person and housing arrangement.)

Reach me by email at paladin@andrew.cmu.edu, or call me at (412)422-4611.
If possible, please try to reach me by April 9 (at the very latest),
because our chapter meetings are Tuesday nights, and I need to arrange
housing for everyone.

I hope to see everyone in beautiful (it'll snow, trust me), sunny (well,
60 days out of the year, anyway) Pittsburgh!

In Leadership, Friendship, Service, and $3.50 Funnel Cakes,
