Hi everyone...

Im sending this to both lists but Ill TRY to be brief!

We at UGA, Beta Zeta are having membership problems....

Brothers are dropping like flies...We are having many brothers who levae
and never return to be forever inactive.... We have one problem. In our
xconstitution we only have 2 membership distinctions: Active and Inactive.
Active are normal brothers who are active..Inactivesm WERE considered
peopole who needed to take time off for a term. We only grant inactive
status for one term and it must be granted by exec board. But, we are
having people who should've never been initiated to start with and do nbot
return! Under our Constitution..these people canot be granted inactive
status again! So i am proposing a solution and want to know what other
chapters think and what other chapters policies are:

1. keep active as is
2. make our current inactive status associate
        A. These people have one term off and can only be granted
associate status by petitioning exec board. Only in extreme
circumstances will associate status be granted for more than one academic
term.

3. create an inactive status
This would be people who fail to pay dues or report. They woud
lose all rights to chapter functions. They could become reactive aftre
petitioning execs.

What do yall htink? Does this follow what most other people are doing?
Does this go against any national bylaws and/or rules?

Secondly, we need help in retaining members. We have dropped from oover 60
members to less than 30 in a year! "What do yall do to retain members,,we
are making pledge baords more strict so that people who are not serious
will never get in...but often times this fails...some pledges fool
you..what do yall suggest in member retention? Ive talked to everyone who
has left and most do not plan on coming back.. Some had personal problems
with the chapter others said they didnt have time...all were vehement
about not returning....

can anyone help? i am growing gray and it doesnt look good on a "queen"!

Thanks!

Yours in Leadership, Friendship, and Service,
