On the Montel Williams Show yesterday, several flood victims were
interviewed. One person stated that the American Red Cross is accepting
in-kind donations of food and clothing.
THIS IS INCORRECT! The American Red Cross does not handle clothing, nor
individual donations of food.
If you are interested in helping flood victims by donating clothing or
food, call 1-800-7IN-KIND for referrals to other agencies who *WILL*
accept your donations!
If you are interested in benefiting the American Red Cross specifically,
MONETARY donations are accepted by calling 1-800-HELP-NOW.
If you have other ideas of disaster assistance, feel free to contact me
for advice. I am TRAINED in disaster services and know who to refer you
to.
