Hi Amy,
Well, that doesn't sound good that you are all taking on such a challenge
as re-chartering while dealing with exec board tensions, but such tensions
are not a foreign concept in oranizations such as these. Are the tensions
you speak of apo related or do them stem from personal conflicts resulting
from external issues? Either way, our chapter (Alpha Phi, Washington
University, St. Louis) stresses communication as a way to prevent problems
and hopefully solve them. It sounds like yours are potential problems
that have not gotten out of control yet, that is the best time for
communication. Often large problems develop out of small
misunderstandings i.e. I thought he said/meant... Anyway, it's a good
sign that you are open to advice and willing to work to solve your
problems. Perhaps you could have some sort of exec board retreat, give
everyone a chance to voice frustrations and work as a group to solve them.
A lot of problems result from simply not listening to each other, there is
a difference between hearing and listening. Anyway, I wish you all the
best of luck:)
Yours in Leadership, Fellowship, and Service,
Kim
