Although there was never a chapter at St. Joseph's University (PA),
there have been several attempts to create one that have been stopped. At
one time I think the interest group was 50 people.

The problem has been that the student senate feels that their are
already organizations that are community service orienented and the their
was no need for APO. (St. Joe's does have a very large service movement on
campus).

They next tried to come on campus as a fraternity, but the
President of the University made a decree that there would be no more
fraternities on campus feeling that there were enough already. Attempts
were made to have Presidents of other Catholic affliated Universities (that
had APO chapters) to call and try to change his mind about APO. I do not
know how far that got, but there is still no chapter there and I believe a
strong interest in one.
