To give some sort of point to my previous point and join in on this
debate, I'd like to say this: Drinking doesn't make us stupid. We provide
that all by ourselves. But there's hope for the terminally stupid! It can
be cured!! So then the point is to make an effort to create an
environment so that brothers of legal age can do as they wish with the
safety of everyone in mind. That includes some effort to discourage
drinking and manipulating big heavy machinery like cars and lawnmowers.

I'll go ahead and repeat my last question, because I think some good
answers could help us all. How can Chapters develop Risk Guidelines
that provide for the responsible consumption of alcohol and minimize
irresponsible drinking? Furthermore, what clauses should we include to
protect ourselves, our chapter, and our Fraternity if an incident should
arise? What resources are available to us and how should we word these
Risk Guidelines to make them an acceptable legal document?

Not the wittiest, but at least it might COA (cover our @$$e$) if, even
after all the effort to discourage dummies. Just to throw in my personal
opinion (like it has any relevancy to the discussion) I *enjoy* having a
drink with my brothers. I tell you, there's nothing like toasting your
Regional Director and National Convention Coordinator (both IP alumna!!
woo-hoo!!) right after a tough convention. But I won't risk defaming my
chapter or my Fraternity or engaging them in legal battles.
