Along with what Charlie Z has said, the best help will come through donations
to the Red Cross.
From what I know, Epsilon Theta and the rest of the students were evacuated
in time from Grand Forks. On the other hand, the interest/petitioning
chapter in Fargo, ND at NDSU had 20 minutes to evacuate and grab as much
stuff as possible. I have yet to be in contact with any members of Epsilon
Theta as well. My grandmother lives 30 miles from the flooding in Fargo and
said that her community is even feeling the effects and is mobilizing to help
in the cleanup of Fargo.
As far as helping in cleanup efforts are concerned, there is nothing we as
Section 23 Staff have planned out as a cleanup crew. With no word from any
of the members of the two flooded chapters, its hard to know the worst areas
hit by the flooding. But what I have decided is that on my days off, my
brother (who graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead) and myself will be
driving up to Fargo and helping with the cleaning since we have friends that
need help there.
With students approaching the last month of classes in May it will make it
difficult to help volunteer time with finals approaching. IF its possible,
when classes are done for those of you in classes, why don't we mobilize an
APO volunteer cleanup crew?
This is just a thought, but the residents of Grand Forks and Fargo can use as
much help as possible no matter how large or small the force is. Just think
about it and lets discuss if it would be a possibility.
