Can we keep the comparative traffic laws discussion down unless someone has
an correction to misinformation that's been posted already.
And, getting on a soap box for a second: Some states have had wipers-lights
regulations for years and many more have added them recently. Why? Not so
you can see better, but so other people can see you. You are a lot more
visible if you're running with headlights on. (There's a reason that
motorcycles have had engine/headlight interlocks for years.) It really does
make a difference -- sometimes as much as 300-400 yards in terms of when
another driver can see you. I've been involved in a very near miss because
of not being able to see an on-coming car in gray-out conditions (Driving
the car into a ditch was preferable to the head-on collision.)
Driving with your headlights on can prevent accidents and doesn't cost you
anything. The AAA actually recommends using your headlights all the time.
