Folks,
I've just read about one of the most (in my opinion) heinous crimes --
stealing from a non-profit youth organization. I've just recently read
how equipment valued at _$8,745_ was stolen from Boy Scout Troop 761
(based in Sterling, VA). I am absolutely shocked and appalled that a
crime like that could have happened. The troop had spent five years
accumulating the equipment. Now they have to start all over again by
calling for donations and by running a shredded hardwood mulch sale
fundraiser ($3 per bag of 3 square feet). If you feel as I do, you'll
support them by donating money or participating in their mulch drive by
calling 703/430-1308. Donations and orders can be sent to "Troop 761
Equipment Fund, 3 Wiltshire Ct., Sterling, VA 20165" (call first to
verify).
The equipment was stored inside a box trailer (which was also stolen).
The trailer license tag is Virginia CT 100066.
To those who disbelieve this is a real charity and can't see blindly
sending money to the address I've listed above, check it out for
yourself. Call the number I listed above. The article, where I got my
information, was published September 17th, 1997 on page 3 & on page 30
in Vol. 29, No. 38 of the Loudoun Easterner newspaper (Suite 200, 21515
Ridgetop Circle, Sterling, VA 20166 -- 703/430-4000). If you don't
believe me or the troop, call the newspaper to verify.
Personally, I am absolutely devistated that a crime like this could
happen.
