I am Josh Smith, a brother of Delta Iota. This semester we have had a
brother transfer from another school and wanted to join our chapter. We
have been advised to put something in writing so that in the future the
chapter will know how to handle a transferring member. A committee was
formed to formulate steps for a transferring member and we will go before
the executive board soon. If anyone would, please tell me how other
chapters do this and/or how the following resolution appears to be. Any
constructive comments are welcomed. It has not been an easy task
determining how to do this. I am not a subscriber to apo-l so please
email me directly at:

Thank you,
-Josh
Transferring Member Education (TME)
Be it resolved that,
Upon the chapter being informed that a Brother from another school
intends on
Transferring his/her membership to Mercer University, a Big Brother shall be
given to the
transferring student so as to inform said transferring student of all
requirements for transferring.
The TME shall last at least 2 weeks upon said transfer student's first
attendance at a
Regular chapter meeting and shall last until all requirements are met.
(The two
weeks are set so that the chapter has time to meet the transferring student.)
Since the Membership Vice President is the overseer of membership, the
Membership
Vice President shall work with said Big Brother to ensure the
Transferring student
learns the history of Delta Iota. Furthermore, the transferring student
shall pass a
test comparable to the history test given to Pledges.
It is believed by the Chapter that fellowship and leadership is developed
through service.
Therefore said transferring student shall develop, plan, and execute one
service
Project, which shall be approved by the Service Vice President.
