Since announcing new Pledges appears to be the done thing here, I'll
take this opportunity to congratulate David Baker whom I, as Crew
Leader, had the pleasure of inducting on Sunday as the most recent
Rover Squire of the Harcourt Hill Rover Crew, Australian National
University.
Squires are our equivalent of Pledges in that it's what you become as
soon as you are inducted into the Crew. After completing Squire
training (which is, I guess, similar to pledge classes) the Squire is
invested as a full Rover Scout which is the equivalent of a Brother. A
squire has sponsors to help him through his training which is, I
suppose, similar to your "big brother" scheme.
Yours in Scouting
David

It will be a great day when our schools and universities have all
the money they need and the air force has to hold a cake stall to
buy a new bomber.
