Okay, I have some questions that I would like to pose to the group, but I feel the need to provide some background first.

As some of you may know, my advisee chapter is Theta Epsilon at Illinois State University. From graduation 1993 to May 4, 1996, this chapter had no members. I coordinated an effort to bring APO back to campus, and with a lot of luck and hard work, we were finally successful. On May 4, 1996, we initiated 3 new members, and the fall brought two transfer members. Since early in 1997, the chapter has taken off (10 pledges this spring, and 20 this fall, of whom 8 and 18 activated, respectively). The current chapter size is around 25 actives, 3 advisors, and a handful of associates.

Anyway, that's background on the chapter. There is a service sorority on campus that apparently sees APO as a real threat. They have went co-ed in response to TE's rebirth, pledging two men this fall. They also have asked the question "how can they be a fraternity if they can't even provide living quarters for their members?" This has all the makings of something that could get very ugly, very fast.

The reason I provide all this information is I'd like to get some idea of how various chapters deal with other service organizations on campus, especially those that seem to want to pick a fight.

x Do you have a productive relationship with other service organizations on campus? In other words, is any competition between the groups (for members and projects) healthy?
x If the competition is or has been unhealthy, how do/did you deal with it?

This seems like something that would be beneficial for the group, so constructive responses to the list are encouraged.

Thanks for your responses.
