I think the real reason behind this is that we can't keep them straight.
For whatever reason, there is about a 60% chance for members to refer to
initiation as induction. Usually someone will correct him/her, and then
we'll all laugh because we all have trouble remembering the proper name.
Are there any other chapters with this problem?
