Personally, I'd like to see just *one* theme selected for 2 years. Why? It
will give chapters more time to actually plan their service programs with
the program of emphasis mind. Also by "one" theme I mean just that, not
related themes. We've had some bizarre combinations in the past because the
reference committee handling the issue at the convention wanted to
accomodate everything that had been explicitly proposed. . It can be a
fairly broad theme, but just one -- and it should be something that offers
an opportunity to do a wide variety of programs. Something like 'literacy'
would be a good theme. 'Hunger' and 'Homelessness' is an okay theme since
they are at least related issues. 'Eating Disorders' wasn't a particularly
good choice for a theme because there were a limited number of things a
chapter really could do.
