One thing to consider, though with the region sizes is the number of schools
in each region.  Out here in the west, schools tend to be as scattered as
the cities, which means that for the same size area, we usually have a lot
fewer schools.  There are the obvious exceptions, such as southern and
northern California, but most of the rest of the area is pretty thinly
populated.
