good After noon brothers. i thought since I'm from a Northwest School you
might value some imput from a brother up here in Seattle!!!!!

Well, I have been thinking about this for some time and realize that there
is really only one option for the Western States. We are posed with two
very difficult issues and only one action will resolve both issues.

Issue 1.) Due to the large geographic area, we do not recieve the
attention that a chapter with a smaller region might receive. This means
that the only time we really receive any attention is when we have a
sectional conference, or have a CPW in the Northwest. We have really no
communication ties with colleges located in California because we are at
least a 10 hour drive away, and an interregion event seems to be a little
difficult to plan. Not only that, but the only time we really get
leadership help is when we are having a cpw in the northern part.

Issue 2.) Extension efforts are difficult to do when the region is so
large. We have resolved this issue ourselves in the northwest be really
doing our own extension efforts. We currently have interest groups at 3
universities, petitioning chapters at 5 Universities, and ideas of what
colleges we need to hit next. Thus, In the Oregon, Montana, Idaho,
and Washington borders we are doing our own extension efforst with an
alumnus, Dave Corning.

therefore, in all reality if we do want this western region to grow and
become stronger we need to divide us at the California border, they take
hawaii, we take alaska and let us go for it. That way we can utilize the
recently moved alumnus in our area and build a region 11 that can better
serve the needs of those chapters north of Chico. WE love you guys, but
sometimes there's too much cost for some members in our chapter to take
part. It's easier to drive 5 hours than 12, at least in motivating
people to do so.

Well, that's all I really have to say at this point, but I do appreciate
the discussion that has started. We are going to need to do this at the
next convention and if there are any studies that need to be done, I will
be graduating in June and begin work on this project extensively.
