I absolutely disagree with recombining the calls into sections.

What I would suggest is a segmented roll call time period. Say 7pm-8pm will
have chapters Alpha to Epsilon Zeta, 8pm-9pm will have Epsilon Eta-Xi Rho
and so on. 50 chapters per block with a 10 minute break. That way, those who
do want to stay for the whole thing can do it comfortably, those who choose
to only go for their own chapter's delivery can stay for a maximum of one
hour.

With roll call, the spotlight is on individual chapters' presentations, as
it's their 30 seconds of fame in front of the national fraternity to present
themselves. Combining it into sections will water down the exposure each
brother will get to the audience, and would be harder to pull off, as the
writing and practice would occur the same day as the presentation. Some
chapters practice their calls for weeks, and it shows. Other chapters have their
own traditional roll calls they bring to every conference with pride, which
in this case they won't have the opportunity to do.

I generally associate my friends with individual chapters rather than by
sections, so waiting for them to get on, I might get confused, especially if
100 members in his/her section take the stage and he/she is in back of the
pack.

No one is forced to sit there for 3 hours- some people always float in/out
of the hall while it's going on. There's usually some spontaneous fellowship
activities running against roll call anyway. So I don't see a problem.

Of course, I should mention that I am a roll call junkie and have watched
9 hours of roll calls over 3 Nationals.

Oh yeah, in St Louis, the roll calls were part of the banquet. It's MUCH
better to get them out of the way separately.
