Not much of a surprise to anyone paying attention to MIT's financial problems:

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology will cut its budget for next year by
roughly $70 million and may lay off 200 people to make up for three years of
losses in its endowment, officials told faculty members yesterday.
Could be worse.
