Sure: there's a benefit to campus dining.  This is an alternative to
a meal plan, a sop to the dining providers to shut them up without
imposing a meal plan.  Sounds good to me.

It's unfortunate that MIT continues to err in admitting students such
that the surface explanation is a problem.
