general election is June 25, for the open Senate seat of Democrat
John Kerry.Another environmental group spending big money to defeat Lynch
is the NextGen Committee, which has reported spending more than $196,000,
according to Federal Election Commission filings. The group is backed by
California billionaire Thomas Steyer, who has called on Lynch to oppose
the pipeline. NextGen has spent $54,700 for an aerial banner that read
"Steve Lynch says: Go Habs! And Go Canadian Dirty Oil."The banner appears
to question Lynchs loyalty to the Boston Bruins. The "Habs" is the
nickname for the Montreal Canadiens. The banner was flown over downtown
Boston ahead of a matchup between the two hockey teams.NextGen also spent
more than $50,000 for video mobile billboards and $40,000 for online advertisements.
That's an apparent violation of an agreement signed by Lynch and Markey
known as the "People's Pledge," which is designed to discourage radio, television
and Internet ads by outside groups. If there is a violation, the
candidate who benefits agrees to pay half the cost of the ad
to a charity named by their rival.Markey has made environmental issues one
of his top priorities and the focus of a television campaign ad
that highlighted his role in holding BP responsible for the 2010 oil
spill in the Gulf of Mexico.Another big supporter of Markey is the

a sports luxury plug-in hybrid car, sits on display at the 2010
Los Angeles Auto Show in Los Angeles.APFisker Automotive -- the electric-car
maker that was granted a half-billion-dollar federal loan and on Friday
dismissed about 75 percent of its remaining workforce -- is purportedly
facing a lawsuit from the same firm that sued the government-funded Solyndra
company.Fisker laid off 160 of its roughly 210 employees Friday morning
from its Anaheim, Calif., location, according to Automotive News.Employees
told the publication they were given no severance pay besides compensation
for unused vacation days.According to the class action suit filed by Outten
& Golden, in a California district court, Fisker failed to notify the
employees 60 days in advance, violating the federal U.S. Worker Adjustment
and Retraining Notification Act and a similar state WARN Act.Outten & Golden
won a $3.5 million settlement in a similar case against Solyndra, according
to Reuters. The solar-panel maker received $535 million in loan guarantees
from the Obama administration before falling into bankruptcy in 2011.A source
told the news agency that Fisker will retain about 53 senior managers
and executives to primarily help sell off company assets.Fisker has received
$193 million of a $529 million Energy Department loan, mostly for work
on its luxury Karma vehicle that sells for about $100,000.
FBI agents on Friday visited the suburban Washington home of former CIA
Director David Petraeus, who resigned last year after revelations about
an extra-marital affair, according to several news reports. An FBI spokeswoman
told Fox News on Saturday she could confirm only that there was
"law enforcement activity in Northern Virginia."Agents went to Petraeus
home to interview him, but it's not clear whether he was home,
according to USA Today.Officials are saying the visit is part of the
ongoing investigation into allegations that Paula Broadwell, with whom Petraeus
had the affair, improperly received or stored classified documents while
writing his biography, sources told NBC.Agents have also visited Broadwells
home in Charlotte, N.C., that she share with her husband and two
children. The affair was exposed in November as part of an investigation
into threatening emails Broadwell, 40, purportedly sent other women, Tampa,
Fla., socialite Jill Kelley. Petraeus, 60, resigned weeks later and publically
apologized earlier this month.
