Once the OV tests no longer need to depend on it, we may want to nuke
this functionality altogether; I don't think there's any really good
reason for it, and simplifying the code is a good thing.
Agreed. Converting the OV tests won't be hard, and might even be
trivial, I just haven't tried yet. Removing the functionality will be
very easy; it will just involve some if clauses from alt_prof.c.
