The total size of I talked with one of the authors. He had estimates from TIS and NSA for the per-user cost of GAK and those were about an order of magnitude apart (NSA more expensive). Note that these are costs *per year* -- not one-time costs. Note also that the 1996 gross for crypto in the US was given as $100M -- half the minimum estimated cost of GAK (unless I misread the web page). - Carl -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP for Personal Privacy 5.0 Charset: noconv iQCVAwUBNCbyEVQXJENzYr45AQFLgAQAhnW2G/MhjxYq4faadeh4BRN2z0xJwRKI Bp2tAI+YMYRaRsdveCR+ymrVwVBhVbPkwkg5dcNtn0Fx+AL4M/WIjRXnScbxCAtM cIpwHtRkeGIclfvMcVvXJGTkCplznzDwu2fy0fNKNwzl6EYfzkZJMOzCvBwgQWjf Fhos9MN/QlM= =E6Y9 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- +------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Carl M.
