Anybody on the list know more about this project? ("...one of the largest
and most exciting..." :-) The puff piece has some contact info, but I don't
expect to get anything useful from them.
AUSTIN, Texas--Shoppers in New York City's Upper West Side will be able to
purchase goods with the latest Visa Cash smartcard technology thanks to
special integrated circuit chips provided by Motorola Semiconductor Products
Sector.
Visa Cash Cards powered by Motorola microcontrollers and manufactured by
Schlumberger and other leading card vendors, will be issued by Citibank to
approximately 15,000 consumers and be accepted by more than 600 merchants.
The New York program, which began Tuesday, marks one of the largest and most
exciting U.S. programs for smartcards since the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
