Well, sincerly I've never tried ppdd, but I recently seen another good
(IMHO) cryptografy file system called TCFS (Transparent Cryptografy File
System) developed by an italian group of students.
Check out http://tcfs.dia.unisa.it
AFAIK you can use IDEA, DES and maybe 3-DES as encryption algorithms.
It runs under linux as kernel module (there's also a user daemon).
Some porting are in work (BSD, OSF/1, WinNT).
All this is under GPL :)
