-------------------- BEGIN FORWARDED MESSAGE ---------------------

The Service Reference Committee at the last National Convention
decided to keep the first Saturday of November as National Service
Day, but added that a chapter may choose another day if the official

date is not feasible. Personally, given the choice between
excellence
and timing, I'd go for excellence.

Here are the multiple goals of National Service Day:

theme - expand your service program in the area of :
                recycling/green projects for 1995
outside participation - involve others in the community who would
not
normally participate in a service project
publicity - make this a positive PR opportunity for the Fraternity

                through media coverage
unity - preferably all chapters participate on the same day, the
first
                Saturday of November
sharing - report to the National Office on your project.

More details and ideas can be found in the National Service Day
Packet
which was mailed out to all chapters in September. An NSD Project
Sharing form is included in this packet for your convenience. (NSD
`95
logo stickers were mailed in October.)

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for asking!
