Question: Just because a chapter has to go coed is no insurance that it
actually will be coed. How would this be enforced? If an all-male chapter
does "guy-stuff" for Rush, how many women would pledge? From a historical
perspective, what attracted some women to be the inaugural femalebrothers
at their chapters in the early 70's? Though I respect the grandfather clause,
saying a chapter is coed-able is no insurance that it will in fact be co-ed,
and legal leverage for enforcement is almost nil. Achapter can just say that
no women are interested in joining, and there is not much more that can be
done about that.

Here's another idea:

Instead of forcing all-males to go co-ed, why not insert a special clause in
the by-laws to allow an all-female chapter of APO at a school with an
all-male
already there? That's right- TWO APO chapters at the school. I know it's a
bit unconventional but listen to the benefits:

1. all-males stay all male according to their wishes.

2. Women at the school can still be brothers of APO.

3. Broader service coverage, and an opportunity for high-profile joint
projects.

It's too bad this is being discussed now rather than back in August or early
September. Who knows- I could have written an amendment on this. (YES!
ANOTHER AMENDMENT!! HAHAHA!) :)

Seriously, though, what do you think?
