Brothers,
I am sorely disappointed to see LGB Brothers (like myself)
discussed as "them" and "homo's" and "others". "Captain Aban", (Mark L.
from Auburn) please consider that your reference to queer people as
"homos" is akin to me naming you as "hetero", rather than as "human",
or as "Brother" or "friend". The words you use to name people are
powerful. You sent a strong disrespectful message.
Please consider that you are not posting your message to a solely straight
audience. We all have the capability to include, exclude, and offend many
more people than we percieve. This list has over 400 members. Are you
willing to use language to publicly decide who is "us" and who is "other"?
"They" are everywhere, including in your fraternity.
Members of this list were also so quick to judge LGB folk as inherently
counter to the Scouting movement.
Clean living? Honesty? Strong Values? These are things *people* can
possess, regardless of sexual orientation. Morality is not limited to
heterosexuals. It extends to people. All people.
