Truth be told, they're illegal to operate in both DC and VA. You can own
them, just don't use them...as if you're going to be going fast enough in
this area to utilize them over the weekend. Just put it in the glove
compartment once you hit Baltimore / the Virginia state line.

New Carrolton, on the north side of town, has adequate parking, but
that'll be gone by 8:00 a.m. Vienna will be a little better - on the
west side of town, off of I-66. If you're from the South side, you get
really lucky, because the brand-spanking-new metro stop at
Franconia/Springfield has the largest parking lot area of any metro
station and it is right off of I-95.
Nonetheless - do it. Don't even dream of thinking you're parking in
downtown DC. Or that your car will still be there when you get back.

Weather forecast is calling for hot, humid weather, just like it has been
over the past several years. Possible thundershower late in the day.
Bring a lightweight plastic thing to put over your head.
Dress light! DC will have their portable mist-type shelters out so you
can walk through them and cool off. Heavy stuff gets really heavy really
quick.
There will be lots o' people - go for the "low impact trip" and take
things that you can carry garbage out with, because the nearest dumpster
will be as far away as you can get it.

Well, I'll dispute #1 in principle, and #2 because it's unenforcable.
But - on a day like the one expected you're going to blitz yourself damn
quick because of the heat/humidity. Then you'll sleep the rest of the
day and people will wonder where you were in the photographs (or they'll
take photos of you that you'll find out about when you run for Section
Chair.) So, from the common sense point of view, this is not the day to
do this. Also, your "ceremonial tossing of the cookies into the
reflecting pool" is frowned upon.
Don't bring fireworks, especially those that shoot things. That
absolutely will get you arrested in nothing flat. That means no
flamethrowers, Yusef. The nice Secret Service people frown on that, too.
Grok that in it's entirety.
Bring your shades. Bring a pillow for your sensitive tush.
Have a good time!
Now, the next question. Men in Black premiers tomorrow night. It's a
day early - but anybody out there wanna get a group together for this?
