Brother Librizzi's comments are what frustrate me while I was a member Nu Mu
and now that I'm a member of Region IX's staff as the Canadian Extension
Chair. The "we will not die lying down" attitude is what creates this
discussion we are having. Yes I was a member of an all-male chapter, yes I'm
proud of that fact and yes I still keep in contact with my former chapter.
Sorry to tell you this, but every single all-male chapter does not share the
same philosophy. In fact, its what agitated me at national conventions.
People would always ask me if I was a militant all-maler and I'm not. So my
chapter's name was dredged through the preverbial mud. I just want everyone
to understand that just because i come from an all-male chapter, I don't
harbor an ounce of resentment to people that want to see each chapter co-ed.
What matters to me are that the principles of APO are carried out to their
fullest by each chapter. To borrow what Mini Seidel said, "It doesn't matter
whether a chapter is all-male, all-female, all-gay, all-straight, all-black
or all-white." After all, APO is a National Co-ed Service Fraternity and I'm
proud to be a member of it. I've even taken some of the service project
ideas and incorporated them into the new program where I work with juvenile
criminals. APO has taught me a lot. I hope it continues as well.
