"NIB" is a term I first learned of when I became one oh so many years ago.
My first thought was that it was a bit silly. My second was how proud I
was to have earned the right to be called a NIB. Later, I was extremely
proud to be able to call my 4 little brothers from 2 chapters NIBs, and
they carried the nickname with honor... until the next initiates came along.

Now, I have called other new initiates NIBs, and they did not like it and
told me so. My solution? I stopped calling them NIBs. I would be willing
to bet most everyone else who uses the term does the same.
