Following a heated discussion last night in chapter, I would like to get
some reactions to the choice of having no hourly or project requirement as
a service requirement. We passed a constitutional amendment changing our
requirement from # of projects to hours per quarter, but some brothers
brought up the concern that even having a requirement to begin with
defeats the purpose of joining a volunteer service organization--being
required to do such and such many hours of service makes it seem more like
a chore.
All I'd like is not to start a debate online, but just some positive and
negative feedback about this choice--from chapters who are doing it, from
chapters who have tried to do it, and from chapters who have a regular
requirement and why you feel you have to have a requirement.
