Greetings once again everyone,

John Grossi brought up a very good point...
> considering the fraternity is majority female by a good chunk I
> doubt we are alienating female members

Getting back to the "2 sides of the coin" issue that I brought up
earlier. There are 2 sides to this issue, both of them being
opposites........

One side says, there is no problem. Don't change anything. Just
accept it for what it is.

The other side says, there _is_ a problem. We must change it so
we can accept it better.

Those viewpoints are opposites, aren't they? Am I wrong? Have I
not seen both of these opinions on APO-L recently (and in
person)?

If we continue down this line, we will most certainly come up
with a decision that no one wants. We need to find middle ground
between these 2 rather conflicting viewpoints.

First of all, we need to get out of denial and accept that there
is a problem. Once we've done that, we can work on a compromise.

The compromise is, don't revise history; Add to it.

(1) Recognize that there is a gender problem with our texts.
(2) Don't strive to re-word the texts, because that would be
revisionist history.
(3) Strive to ADD to the texts, as this would reflect a
transition. Afterall, we underwent a transition. Why not have
our texts undergo a transition to reflect this?

In conclusion, keep our texts, our Toast Song, and our traditions
the same. But, add more to them to reflect the changes that we
have undergone in the past, what we undergo in the present, and
what we will undergo in the future.

Don't deny the problem. Don't strive for the solution that no
one wants, and above all, seek a compromise.

Once again, this has been my $0.02 worth.

Sincerely,
Jeremy Gagliardi
